Waiting on Wednesday #5: Illuminae!!

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I've missed the last few Wednesdays due to busy-ness, so I'm glad I could get this one out!

I know it's technically against the rules (are there really any "rules" on the internet, though? Some philosophy today, here, on Spinning Jenny...), but I'm posting a book that was published on October 20, 2015. I feel legit about this, however, as I've ordered a HARD COPY online to be mailed to me at my HOUSE and I'm doing a little dance of excitement... Curious? Read on, my friend, read on...

Title: Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1)
Author: Amie Kaufman
Publisher:Knopf Books for Young Readers
Published: October 20, 2015
Genre(s): YA, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis:

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

-------------------------------------------

So, obviously this sounds like a pretty cool book. From what I've read from other bloggers (those lucky bastards with advance copies) it's better in paper format, rather than e-book, as I think something sort of gets lost in translation. But it's not just that.

Reviewers are going batty for this book. So I'm trying SO HARD to keep my expectations in check. www.chapters.indigo.ca says they're delivering it on November 10th (which is technically a Tuesday, but who ever heard of "Waiting for Tuesday?" Sheesh.).

Ironically I also ordered myself a "Fitbit" to arrive in the same order. Sorry, "Fitbit" I'll get off my ass after I READ THIS BOOK!!!!

I'm out of the WoW loop! Was this one of your Waiting for Wednesdays? Are you one of the crazy bastards sniffing the Illuminae glue? Leave your WoW in the comments below and I'll check them out!!!

Thanks for reading!
